Wild Southern Atlantic Coast Private Tour from Vigo

Let me show you the southwest coast of Galicia. This tour visits the very interesting Atlantic coast south of Vigo. The same route that pilgrims take is known as "The Portuguese Camino" from neighboring Portugal. We go from Vigo to visit Baiona with its fabulous fortress and the replica of the Pinta Caravel, as here is where news of the New World first arrived. We will visit and take a coffee at the Parador, a 16th-century castle overlooking the ocean with a view of the Cies Islands

As we drive south, we pause to admire the unique Monastery of Oia. This is the only Cistercian monastery in Spain that stands right on the edge of the ocean. The monks here were famous for defending the coast from pirates with their own cannons.

Our next destination is the majestic Mount Santa Tecla. We will drive to the top to see the famous " Celtic Citania," a massive archaeological site of circular stone houses. Afterward, we will stand at the viewpoint where the Miño River flows into the sea, marking the natural border.

Finally, we cross the international bridge into Portugal. We enter the fortified town of Valença do Minho, a masterpiece of military architecture. You will have free time to explore the boutique shops and enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch, such as the famous Bacalhau. After a relaxing meal, we will begin our comfortable return journey.
